In life, there is only duty and honor that determines a mans fate in the end.
In a matter of days time. I have seen my most cherished beliefs shatter among the weight of truth. I have never questioned that which was asked of me. I have sworn my duty as Captain of the City Guard faithfully for five years to the day and yet all that has changed the moment I was assigned to investigate the murders of scholars within our fair city.
My investigations led me to the most unsual of groups which was cited as possible witnesses or suspects and this most fateful meeting has changed everything.
It would seem that the shadows and history are intertwined. Therein lay the truth of the investigation as a malevolent race known as the shadow elves have been possessing citizens and have been searching for magical items that I cannot even comprehend. In search of some sort of justice, I reluctantly agreed to accompany this group of unique individuals to explore the ruins of a long sunk island.
It was here that everything changed.
Our group became stuck in a form of wild magic that effected time itself. And before we could properly weigh the course of our actions, we found ourselves a millennia in the past. It was here that the legendary St. Jas defeated the Shadow Elves and flooded the island with a spell send directly from Nicah.
And it was here, that our fates changed, as we dipped our own hands into the course of time. We knew that our very actions could affect the time we presently knew but fate has a way of changing your very perceptions. Perhaps it was our destiny to travel back into the past and change what we knew to be true. And perhaps it was something else...
Either way, we changed the course of time, and in doing so changed the very fabric of what is truth and mere fantasy. The city looks very much the same but in its own distinct way, has become different. We cannot know the extent of our hand in events to come and for those that have gone before but we will do what we must in order to right what was wronged.
It is our duty. These individuals I have learned to trust and I must do what we can to ensure that all is not lost. I will need to trust them more in this 'alterred time' and yet I have not given up hope in setting things right. In this..new world, Dezran, Khyrie, Draven, and Shamar are the only companions I can now trust...
Here is to the future...
Regards,
Captain Kerino Isaria
City Guard of Castellar
